WBFF Diva Fitness Model Jamie Rondinelli

    Name, Bio and Stats

    Jamie Rondinelli

    5″4.5 120lbs

    Full-time graduate college student

    Where do you live?

I spent most of my childhood growing up in Denver, Colorado and Overland Park, Kansas.  I spent 7 years of college life in Iowa, and now currently live in West Des Moines until I move out this fall (once I select a school!) for law school.

What are your athletic achievements and competition history?

This will be my first experience as an athletic competitor, but I have always enjoyed living an active lifestyle.  Throughout high school I played soccer, participated in track and field as well as cheerleading and ballet!  I used to compete on a swim team, and once placed 4th in state for the backstroke! My newest love is Zumba class.   I am also an avid cyclist, so you can always find me in a spinning class or hitting the trails outdoors.  As far as the competition goes, I am definitely excited to try something new :-)

What or who inspires you to compete?

I am the type of girl that loves to set a challenging goal for herself and then reach it.  There is always a thrilling reward when I accomplish something that was difficult to achieve.  This competition has pushed me to devote my time, sweat and passion into my fitness.  When I work out, I can feel myself getting stronger.  I have found a new confidence through my ambitions and endeavors in preparation for this event.  I also find inspiration in my faith.  God gave me this body, and I choose to respect it.

Balanced and healthy nutrition is a hobby of mine.  I enjoy concocting healthy alternatives to some of my most favorite meals.  Eating well makes me feel my best, and drives me to carry out a healthy regiment in all aspects of my life.

What excites you most about competing with the WBFF?

The people I have met in the fitness world thus far have been phenomenal.  They are exciting people that have come from challenging backgrounds with incredible stories and are passionate about what they do both in and outside of the gym.  They are competitive with themselves, but not cut-throat with each other.  I get a sense that WBFF athletes are more into improving themselves for the sake of seeing how much they can personally achieve.  It isn’t about beating someone else at the competition, it is about pushing your body to be the best it can be and showcasing a job well done.  I have been pleasantly surprised at how positive, amicable and genuine the athletes are!  I am excited at the opportunity to make new friends :-)

I spend at least 12+ hours in the gym a week, which I feel validates my desires to compete.  I enjoy pushing my body to new limits and shocking my muscles with new workout routines.   Show prep has been a grueling process, but it is worthwhile and has reintroduced me to my body.  I feel like I truly know myself better: how my body responds and what it needs to perform the way I want it to.

    What are your future goals?

I recently got accepted into several law schools across the country, and I am excited to pursue my legal studies!  My particular interests lie in sports and entertainment law, with an emphasis on the corporate side of things.  I have a master’s degree in Journalism and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, so I hope to incorporate my skills into a successful career someday as a legal commentator on television or working for an entertainment firm!

I also see myself as a family-oriented mother someday… at least several years from now Ha!  I want my children to be inspired by my success in life, and I will do my best to set an admirable example of good values and morals in my household.  If I have a daughter, I want her to know that women can achieve great things in life and become powerful professionals, if that is what she desires from life!

What obstacles have you overcome to achieve your goals (what’s your story?)

I was a little “chunky” in high school, which may be attributed at least in part to my genetic Italian disposition to love pastas and breads!  Ha!  I struggled with self-esteem issues for many years, and then one day I finally decided that enough was enough!  I never have been a twig, and always thought that curves were undesirable until I started looking through woman’s fitness magazines.  I would look at the models and realize that muscular bodies were beautiful and that I wasn’t the only girl on the planet with a curvaceous rear end!   I laugh now because I use to think that my “soccer legs” were fat, and now I embrace my muscular body and wear it proudly :)

How can people find out more about you? Add me on facebook and don’t forget to say hello!http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/profile.php?id=100000318444486

Anyone you would like to thank who has been a part of your fitness journey?

My fantastic and supportive family, who have adapted to my sometimes crazy workout routines and strict clean eating habits!  They have been behind me every step of the way, no matter what path I take, and they are my motivation for everything that I accomplish.  Their unconditional love is invaluable to me and has shaped me into the woman I am today.

Also, my boyfriend has been a great source of inspiration and support for me.  He always makes me smile, no matter how tough of a day I am having. He makes me happy, and he is my best friend.  :-)
