my paleo quest hasnt gone so well today. ive eaten quite a bit of bread, about three slices. but never mind, not the end of the world.

its not like am allergic or anything, im just trying to stay off it, and apart from today, ive been off it for two weeks now! thats damned good for me, because i would normally eat bread every single day!

dont know why i ate it today really. just one of those things that sort of happened without me worrying too much about it.

i was focusing too much on work and other stuff to really care lol.

anyway, yes, nothing major. a bit of bread wont kill me!

5 awesome paleo food staples

There are so many food options at your disposal when you decide to follow a paleo diet.  It always confuses me when people ask if eating the way I do is boring… my answer is always… NO WAY!

You never have to be bored when you’re following paleo.  In fact, I’ve found that I actually enjoy preparing my food more and I have a deeper appreciation for where my meals come from.

Plus I never find myself having to eat the same meal twice if I don’t want to.

Not too mention I look good naked, which is always a nice benefit to eating healthy, nutritious and absolutely delicious paleo foods.
there is no arguing with the health benefits and fat burning power of these foods.
——————————————————————————————————-
Awesome Paleo Food #1:  Grass Fed Beef
——————————————————————————————————-
I’ll pretty much eat any cut of grass fed beef.  But I especially love a good rib-eye or t-bone steak.

Grass fed meats are far superior in health benefits than conventionally fed meats.  Not to mention that normally grass fed meats are not treated with nasty hormones and antibiotics like their conventionally raised brethren.

They contain significantly more beta-carotene, vitamin E, healthy omega-3 fatty acids and about 5 times more CLA (conjugated linoleic acid).

Omega-3 fatty acids and CLA are powerful fat fighters as well as providers of a long list of other health benefits.
——————————————————————————————————-
Awesome Paleo Food #2:  Wild Caught Salmon
——————————————————————————————————-
It’s very important to look at the labels on your salmon.  Just like grass fed beef, wild caught salmon has way more healthy omega-3 fatty acids than it’s farmed cousins.

Not only does it have more omega-3’s, which are extremely healthy, but wild caught salmon has way less of the inflammation causing omega-6 fatty acids.

So if you love salmon, opt for the wild caught variety.  I actually believe that the wild stuff tastes better too.
——————————————————————————————————-
Awesome Paleo Food #3:  Organic, Cage Free Eggs
——————————————————————————————————-
I absolutely love eggs!

The main reason I love them so much is that they are super easy to prepare.  Within minutes you can have a healthy, protein packed paleo meal when you have eggs in the fridge.
They’re also packed with a ton of good stuff like selenium, iodine, phosphorus, molybdenum, choline, lutein, vitamins A, B2, B5, B12, E, D and K.

They also contain a good amount of protein and healthy fatty acids all on their own.  The protein from eggs is easily absorbed by the body and utilized for building muscle.

And by the way… make sure to eat the whole egg.  I don’t have enough room in this email to tell you all the lies behind not eating egg yolks.

The yolks contain most of the nutrients I mentioned above. Plus the yolk is the most delicious part of the egg, in my humble opinion.
——————————————————————————————————-
Awesome Paleo Food #4:  Broccoli
——————————————————————————————————-
When following paleo you need to eat plenty of healthy meats and plenty of veggies of all kinds… especially the green ones.

Most of my green veggie consumption is in the form of broccoli, brussels sprouts, asparagus, spinach and romaine lettuce.

All of these vegetables are packed with anti-oxidants and tons of vitamins and nutrients.  They also give you a dose of all the fiber you will every need in a given day.

Broccoli is my favorite out of the bunch.  All I do is lightly steam it and then add some organic butter from grass-fed cows and a touch of salt.  Delicious!  Makes a great side to a nice grass-fed t-bone steak.
——————————————————————————————————-
Awesome Paleo Food #5:  Blue Berries (… most all berries)
——————————————————————————————————-
Berries are some of my all time favorite foods. I grew up in the country and I remember picking wild blackberries with my mom and dad.

They were messy, sweet and healthy!

I still love blackberries.  Really I love all berries.  You can’t beat them when you feel like something sweet.
Blueberries are some of the most nutrient packed berries.  They pack high amounts of vitamins and anti-oxidants.  They also give you some more daily fiber… if you’re in to that sort of thing.

I enjoy just eating a handful with my breakfast or I throw them into a smoothie.

Just using the foods I’ve mentioned could give you a whole week’s worth of meal ideas.

I typically eat eggs for breakfast every day.  Omelets is one of my favorite meals.  You can put anything you want in an omelet and it will taste delicious.

Get a nice slab of salmon or beef and throw some green veggies on the side and you have a delicious dinner.  Follow up the meal with a nice bowl of fresh mixed berries.  Does it get any better!

If you build a majority of your meals around these kinds of paleo staples you’ll never get bored with your food and you’ll look frickin’ awesome!
To Your Health and Fitness!

loving paleo!

wow fourth day without bread! i would like to say without bread and cereal, but i had a bowl on my first day of paleo (sunday)

but yeah, thats great! ive never gone so long without bread my whole life pretty much lol. its something i eat just about every day.

paleo is really amazing me. i cant believe how well its filling me, how it has DRASTICALLY reduced my junk cravings (yes, ok, i still have one small choc bar and a little bottle of coke a day, but thats more laziness. i could easily live without it, and i still have a little semi skimmed milk every day in my coffee and my protein shake, i REALLY dont like it with water. tbh im sure i dont actually NEED protein shake anymore, but i like it!)

now i cant say for sure how long i will last on it. im not going to be all full of myself and say ”thats it…never will i eat bread or anything like that EVER again!” i dont know, all i know, after four days of paleo, is that i am amazed at how its making me feel.

i would try it for a week anyone. just challenge yourself for one week, to only eat fruit, veggies, meat, fish, eggs, seeds, nuts, and see how you feel!
